Pierwsze winylowe wznowienie piątego albumu Bad Brains pierwotnie wydanego przez Epic Records w 1993 roku. "Rise" był debiutem Bad Brains w dużej wytwórni i kontynuacją przełomowego albumu zespołu z 1989 roku pt. "Quickness". Na płycie Bad Brains wystepują bez dwóch oryginalnych członków. Israel Joseph I zastępuje wokalistę HR, a perkusista Cro-Mags Mackie Jayson (który był muzykiem sesyjnym na poprzednim albumie "Quickness") zastępuje perkusistę Earla Hudsona.

Album w wersji winylowej wydany został przez The Control Group, wytwórnię płytową z Brooklynu, której właścicielem i operatorem jest Nabil Ayers. Od swojego powstania w 2002 roku, TCG wydało m.in. muzykę Cate Le Bon, Lykke Li i El Perro del Mar, a także winylowe wydawnictwa The Killers, PJ Harvey, Spinal Tap, Giorgio Morodera i Kings of Leon.
